hellp me at Database Information in installation steps

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

If empty, CMSMS use default port of your DB system (p.e. mysql use 3306)
If you don't set a different port (ex. for many versions of same DB system), leave blank

I am having exactly the same problem.  I left the port blank as the default.  I am logged in as the user for the database and still get the error on install.  I have created the database with the correct user and password.  I have listed the correct host.  Now what?

Have you restarted your DB server for new credential?

Hello all.

Issue submitters, please tell :
-the database engine (confirm it is MySQL)
-the database provider (your hosting provider ? you and your laptop ? else ?)
-the database creation process or the database information given by the database provider.

Without such informations nobody can help you.

OK, I'm having the same issue, I'll try to include all the information.

I'm installing cmsms 1.5.4 and I'm getting an error on step 5 when I click Continue.  The error says: "Could not connect to the database. Verify that username and password are correct, and that the user has access to the given database."

I set the database up on godaddy, it is a mysql database.  On godaddy the database name and the username are the same, I have confirmed them both as well as the password by being able to login to the database just fine via the cpanel at the godaddy site.  As far as the database host address goes, I've used the default of "local host" as well as the one that godaddy lists as "p50mysql282.secureserver.net" and still get the error.

I thought that the issue might have to do with user privileges but I can't figure out how to view or edit privileges.  Godaddy uses myphpadmin for the database and I just don't see a way to edit the privileges in it.

Not sure what else to do, I've seen that a lot of people have had this error in the past on these forums but unfortunately they either never came back to post the resolution or simply post that the issue was resolved without giving any details.  I promise that if I figure this out I'll post the resolution.

Please, if anyone has any ideas please post them.  Feel free to ask for any details and I will provide them.  One thing though, although I work as a web developer, this is my first time  installing a cms and databases are definitely not my strong suite so don't assume I will understand database jargon, you might have to talk baby talk to me ;)

To check user database-specific privileges goto your database ("jnn" in the example) and privileges tab look for your user ("jnn" in my case). In my example user jnn has all privilege only in jnn database. Besides pay atention to the location in phpMyAdmin.

here is a screen shot of what I see when I log into the database on godaddy.  Bondcms is the database and as you can see there is no tab for privileges.  Maybe I've done something wrong and this screen shot will give someone an idea.
