OK, I'm having the same issue, I'll try to include all the information.
I'm installing cmsms 1.5.4 and I'm getting an error on step 5 when I click Continue. The error says: "Could not connect to the database. Verify that username and password are correct, and that the user has access to the given database."
I set the database up on godaddy, it is a mysql database. On godaddy the database name and the username are the same, I have confirmed them both as well as the password by being able to login to the database just fine via the cpanel at the godaddy site. As far as the database host address goes, I've used the default of "local host" as well as the one that godaddy lists as "p50mysql282.secureserver.net" and still get the error.
I thought that the issue might have to do with user privileges but I can't figure out how to view or edit privileges. Godaddy uses myphpadmin for the database and I just don't see a way to edit the privileges in it.
Not sure what else to do, I've seen that a lot of people have had this error in the past on these forums but unfortunately they either never came back to post the resolution or simply post that the issue was resolved without giving any details. I promise that if I figure this out I'll post the resolution.
Please, if anyone has any ideas please post them. Feel free to ask for any details and I will provide them. One thing though, although I work as a web developer, this is my first time installing a cms and databases are definitely not my strong suite so don't assume I will understand database jargon, you might have to talk baby talk to me
