Internal Server Error - v.2.0

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Internal Server Error - v.2.0

Post by saltydog »

I have installed and run successfully v.2.0 on my test site, but I can't on the production one...

I have checked PHP (v. 5.4.45, PHAR module enabled) but as soon as I try to navigate to the installation directory, I get a "500-Internal Server Error", with no new strings in the server's log. I have uploaded the zip file and expanded it on the server, as I did for the test site.

All the 4 requirements in the readme.txt file are satisfied.

What else could I check?
(v. 1.12.1 is currently running with no problems on that server).

Any clue for this issue?

I am stuck with the test site on v.2.0, but I can't upgrade the production site...

I passed all the night checking for problems, but no result. The provider's server is working fine. On the same server I also have other websites with different CMSs and they all are working. The problem is with the installer.

I followed the 4 requirements in the readme.txt:

[*] php is 5.4.45
[*] database user is OK. (This is an upgrade)
[*] json, tokenizer, xm and gd are enabled
[*] phar is enabled

I don't know what else to check to let the installer start its job...

if you are using the cmsms-2.0-install.zip there is no installation directory as there used to be. there is a single php file within this zip.

if you are using the cmsms-2.0-intall.expanded.zip then you do not upload the files within this archive to the final destination installation directory. But in a peer or preferably a subdirectory of the destination directory. You will be deleting this later.

I have tested with 1and1 and it did not work with phar files at all... and even the expanded installer had to be placed in a subdirectory off of the root of the domain.
I think it had something to do with mod_security, but did not chase it down that far (it certainly smelled like a mod_security issue on 1and1)

If your host is similar, this should give you some hints.

Hi Calguy,

sorry but I didn't get the point....

As I did for my test site, I downloaded the zip file from cmsms site, uploaded on the server, unzipped from the server into a cmsms-2 directory, and then I have browsed to <server-address/cmsms-2>. 500-Internal Server Error.

How can I check the mod-security settings on the provider server? I don't have access to those configurations. Is there anything I can put into a separate ini file?

Talk to your host.

if you are experiencing the same problems.... and/or you are using 1and1 as a host then it is almost certainly a host issue.

The host is the largest in Italy, and I am hosting there 7 websites (with other applications, such as Wordpress and Joomla), and my 1.12 CMSMS sites.

I cannot ask him to change (what?) only to install cmsms v.2.0

I will give up with this, and wait for better times. It's a pity now I have a test site on v.2.0 and a production on v.1.12. I should spend time to restore the older on the test site.

Thanks anyway. I will keep myself updated for v.2.x
