"Database Connection Failed"

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

"Database Connection Failed"

Post by usrnm »

1st, i am very new to cmsms.
2nd, this is not my site and i did not install it so i know very little about it.

issues:
1: logging in - i have not been able to log into the cmsms control panel. i have followed different instructions found online to write a new password to the user name i want to use (query did affect the correct row) but have not been able to log-in. my last attempt to mess with this was several days ago and the site was up and running until this morning.

2: the Database Connection Failed error - the company has several websites hosted under one account. are the config.php files the same for all sites? i cannot tell if the config.php file in the root is for the site that is down or not. from what i have read this error has to do with the pswd saved in this file not matching the host; is this correct?

thanks in advance

well, after taking a few stabs in the dark i did get the site online again after updating the password in config.php and creating a new pswd on the hosts php username.

now there is just the issue with logging into the cmsms control panel.

thanks agian

The CMSMS admin log in data is in the DB under cms_users and the name and password can be changed directly in the DB, look here http://docs.cmsmadesimple.org/troublesh ... d-recovery...

thanks, Dr.

That I have tried a few times already. the row/record is affected correctly but I still cant gain access. Somewhere I read that the host could have changed a pswd or cache file that could cause this issue.

Any other suggestions?

Have a look at the version.php in the root and tell us which version it is.
