[solved] PLEASE HELP...no longer make edits to pages - 'page not found' error
Hello!
I've used CMSMS for about a dozen clients but this is a first for me...
My client went in for the first time to make an edit to a page and, upon hitting submit, received a 'page not found' error. I tried it and got the same response.
Any solutions would be MOST appreciated!
I'm using version 1.6.6
Thanks so much!
Len

3 days of waiting for a response will save 10 minutes of searching.

Re: PLEASE HELP...we can no longer make edits to pages - 'page not found' error
Our site just starting having the same issue. When looking at the url when in edit mode on a page, the page= variable doesn't have any value. I updated the site to 1.6.7 a few weeks ago and changes have been made successfully since then, so this is a new occurance.
I'm searching and have yet to find anything related to this. Any help (or better search terms) would be appreciated.

yup...that's exactly what I'm seeing. VERY strange!
I hope somebody out there can bail us out!

Does this happen on 1.7/1.7.1 as well? As 1.7.1. is latest.

Pop up error message in 1.7: "Could not save : 404 -- Not found"
Exactly the same thing here. My client overseas just emailed to say that her CMS site which I upgraded to 1.7 a couple of weeks ago has simply stopped working.
The site's been on CMS for several years, always gets upgraded, so this is totally weird.
I've just logged in as the Admin, made sure all modules are upgraded etc, and tried to edit a page.
When I clicked the APPLY button, I got the attached error message.
When I clicked the SAVE button, I was taken OUT of the Control panel to a live page, which had no stylesheet attached!
I could access the Control Panel by using the Back button in the browser, but obviously this isn't acceptable.
Nothing has been done to the site's files since the upgrade to CMSMS 1.7.
Not upgrading to 1.7.1 until this gets solved.
Haven't got a clue where to start looking to solve this ...

Re: PLEASE HELP...we can no longer make edits to pages - 'page not found' error
I'm going to be digging into this here in a little while and will start a separate thread with my specifics. I believe what the original poster and I are seeing is this:
* Version 1.6.6 (OP) and mine is 1.6.7
* You go to edit a page and click Apply or Submit and are taken to a 404 page. The page does not save the changes.
I'm a big fan of CMSMS and am hoping this is a simple fix... but it's a bit scary that this occurred without CMS admin involvement. I'll post whatever I find.

I have confirmed I'm seeing the 404 popup message on clicking apply as well.
Just curious if the other posters here are on HostGator as well. Looking for some kind of common link.

I've been waiting for a reason to give a donation. Feel free to encourage me.calguy1000 wrote:I bet I know the answer... but I'm gonna wait a couple more days before I give it out.I'm a big fan of CMSMS and am hoping this is a simple fix... but it's a bit scary that this occurred without CMS admin involvement. Also - Seems I can add new content but cannot modify.

jbad, yes, my client site is on Hostgator.
Calguy, it's fantastic you know the answer! I look forward to waiting a few more days before you provide it, and help others who have less knowledge than you, who don't know CMSMS inside out, and who don't know where to start looking to solve the CMSMS problem (apart from the forum).

Re: PLEASE HELP...we can no longer make edits to pages - 'page not found' error
I understand his motiviation (I think). He provides a very useful tool at no charge to the community and wishes to A) force us to learn and/or B) turn us into paying customers (according to his sig).
I'm good with either really, I'd just rather not spend my night trying to install the latest CMSMS and migrate the DB. I've got plans to move to 1.7.1 but they aren't until the end of the month...

a) is correct.
the second is a side benefit.
