There's no unique-to-cmsms method, just use one of the many available javascript options out there. There are free and paid ones, depending on the amount of functionality you need.

Remember when pasting javascript into a cmsms template to either wrap it in {literal} {/literal} tags, or edit the js to make sure there's a space after any opening curly brace ({).
