Upgrading from 1.11.2

Post by pahv »

Hi,

The host of the website I currently manage sent me a message yesterday saying that PHP 5.6 support will be retired and that only PHP 7.2 will be offered from the 31.12.2020. I tried to switch to PHP 7.2, but it broke the website as Isabella (1.11.2) doesn't support this version, so I came back to PHP 5.6 for the moment.

As a consequence, I need to upgrade the CMS to 2.2.14.

I had a look at this page https://docs.cmsmadesimple.org/upgrading/old-versions, but it doesn't say how to first upgrade from 1.11.2 to 1.12.2. Is it the same instructions as upgrading from 1.11.13 (February 2015)?

Also, I can't upgrade all third party modules through the Module Manager in the CMSMS Admin panel. In fact, the Module Manager shows me an error message saying there was an error communicating with the server. The URL targetting to the module repository is like that: http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/ModuleRepo ... equest/v2/ What's the new URL to the repository? I tried http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/project/list/module, but it doesn't seem to work.

If I can't get to automatically update the modules, can I download them via http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/project/list/module and upload them manually via FTP?

I'm sorry if this question already has been asked.

Thank you for your help.

You may wish to upgrade to 1.11.13 first, then to 1.12.2. It may not be necessary but I doubt many of us will remember the specifics that far back so I probably would just to be safe.

The module repository that 1.x used was retired some time ago, so you won't be able to upgrade modules via module manager until you're on 2.x. You can download them manually from the forge, but you'll have to do a bit of detective work to make sure you don't get too new of a version of the module. Generally if you find one from around the same date as the cmsms version you're on you'll be relatively safe. Make regular backups during the process.
