Running several sites with one install

Post by junito »

Hi,

I would like to know if it's possible to run several sites (back office included) with CMSMS being installed only once?
Any idea / experience?

With the same goal, is it possible to hide some parts of the content architecture (page) in the admin panel?

Thanx

You can perfectly copy a an installation to a new place (http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... New_Server). You need to edit the confg file a little. So if you can make a copy of your DB than there will no problem. Yust edit the config file with the right location and settings of the DB.

What you mean with your last question? You can set permission for several groups and users. So you can give edit rights to only a few people.

Hope this helps?

Being able to control more than one install from one admin interface is a goal for future releases...

Thanks for your replies...

In fact I'm trying to create a website which includes several mini-sites for each country my organization has a subsidiairy. I would like identified editors (one per country) to control only one of these mini-sites. The mini-sites and the website need to share content (global content blocks) and I also a few internal links... That's why I'm trying to use only one install of CMSMS because I need to use the same database.. and reduce efforts to upgrade the CMS!

I've easily managed to create the external facing of these mini-sites with only one CMSMS install. Though my editors are able to see and update any part of the website or mini-site.

Any good idea? Thanx

Just add new user for each section and give permissions to change only those files

hope this helps
