Hi, I'd love to use CMSMS to just enable my client to update blocks of text, and maybe a news article feature on their site. I don't want to use CMSMS for the whole site, just for my current site to pull in blocks from the system.
Can anyone send me to some documentation on how this can be done?
Thank you!!!
How to use CMSMS for sections of your site ...?
Re: How to use CMSMS for sections of your site ...?
I think I understand what you mean:
1. You have a site that exists and is working well.
2. Your client has asked if it's possible that they can add new stuff to it.
3. You don't want them to add anything to other pages....
If So
1. Set up CMS Made Simple convert everything across templates images the works.
OR setup a CMS made Simple in a subfolder on your site and just point people to the subfolder... not as nice link wise and believe me once you've got your head around CMSMS you'll probably prefer to rebuild it in the system anyway - but I'm aware of 'needs must'.
2. Once all of your existing material is setup login and go to 'users' - create a new user
3. Then Select 'group assignments' and add the user you just created to the 'editor' group (or create a new group)
4. Under 'group permissions' select editor and uncheck 'modify any page'.
5. Now you just create a new page and under the 'options' tab select the 'editor' group under additional editors (down the bottom in the list box). Submit it and your done... you have to do this for every page that YOU setup for them to edit. BUT any pages they create get this assigned automatically.
6. When the user logs in as the user you created they only see the pages they are allowed to edit. When you go in as admin you can edit everything.
Obviously you can create a new group and call it what you like but I prefer to use editor as a base because it's pretty much correct for most uses.
And I really do recommend moving the entire site across... especially when the client asks for that extra nav item!
Cheers
