cmsms 1.0.2 on a localmachine
-----------------------------------
Hi Guys,

First of all, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for my inactivity on this forum. Ofcourse not posting in the forums, does not mean i'm not using this great cms. In fact I'm using it a freaking lot for the last month's :-)

I just want to write this article to let you know what I'm doing with cmsms but I would also like your opinions about my way of going about it because I'm in doubt if I'm handling a system like this, the way you're suppose to handle something like this ;-)

What I'm trying to do is build an intranet system wich takes care of all the internal memo's. I work at a medium sized company that provides technical support to customer's of various telephonybrands. The idea is to create a system in wich they can browse internal memo's by 4 category's. I've used 4 news modules for this and divided these into four category's.

There is also a search added to the header of this page, the scope of this search can be any content that's on the website. I don't think it's necessary to have 4 search category's aswell.

The mainpage is divided into 4 column's, these columns contain the newsmodule of the category wich they represent. Whenever a user clicks on "read more" the full article get's displayed in a new 2 column template. One of these column's contains "the newest news" of all category's and the other one display's the full article (summary+body).

I've also created a cssmenu, I had to create 5 pages (4 Category's + home) in order to get a menu. Whenever a user click's on a category from the menu, a new 2-collumn template open's wich displayes "the newest news" in one column and the other column shows all the news summary's of this specific category. I had to create 4 differend template's for this wich are almost identical except in the second collumn I had to specify the newscategory to be displayed.

Now I managed to get it done so far. But it doesn't feel like this is the way to do it. Somehow I think I'm being very stupid. Is this the way to do it? Do I need to create these "news category specific templates"? Do u think I'd be better of not using the newsmodule for this? Should I use page's instead maybe? etc etc. Just let me know what you think, all feedback is welcome! Maybe you did something like this before and have some tips? Anything :-)

Unfortunatly I can't show you a live demo of this just now..

Kind regards and thanks in advance,
T hijs
