broken site

Post by elementals »

hello forum,

i am still a newb to cmsms and having some troubles figuring out everything - but so far most of the time i get my things done.

but now i have obviously done a very bad thing - but can not get a clue what it was.
since a few minutes my site tells me:
Could not find default CmsLayoutTemplate row for type Navigator::navigation
admin-page works find. just visitor-page is "dead"

i am using cmsms 2.1.1, on an iis. not sure about php- and mysql-version right now, but will provide this information asap. still i do not believe that will be basic for my problem.
layout is shadowmenu tab + 2 columns.

long story short: i tried to hide the news-section. i deactivated the news and hoped the layout would figure out the rest. nope
i deactivated news-modul and hoped again. still nope.
i went into stylesheet and commented out the news-part. something changed, but only optical.
i went into template and commented out the news-part. page broken.

as i always do baby steps and write own comments what i have done, i thougt it might be nothing to worry - just undo the comments and anything will be back.

nope.

i have undone every commented change, but the site stays broken, and i am very sure i never touched navigation parts - just the news was targeted.

do you have any advice? what further information can i provide to help you to help me?

thanks in advance

When you navigate to 'Design Manager' -> Templates (tab)
(assuming NO filter applies):
Do you see one or more templates of type 'Navigator::navigation'?
If not: create one and make it default
If so:
does one of them show the green check mark?
If not: open (click) one of the templates and make it default (Advanced tab)
Else: I have no clue (yet) :D

hello again

yes there were some templates of that kind but none has been default, looks like when i cleaned up some not longer used designs, the "simplex footer..." disappeared too (but i do not really understand why - in my test-installation i tested the same designs and there yet this template still is the default ^^)

now it looks that this has not been the only one essential element that disappeared - i can't open the content mgmt too :(

thanks for the hint

Hey all, I come from the future:

If you need to fix this issue, just restore the Breadcrumbs template from the [Template Types / Prototypes] tab and make it default in the Default theme.

Not sure why this happens, since the templates should not be linked to each other, but ths solves the problem.
