Hi folks, new here & just learning about CMSMS.
Running 2.1.1 with a fairly clean install - have a few mods added, namely
AdminSearch 1.0 I
CMSContentManager 1.0
deprecated CMSMailer 5.2.14 <-- even though it's the latest one.
DesignManager 1.0
FAQ 2.0.1
FileManager 1.5
FormBuilder 0.8.1.3 Depends on: CMSMailer
deprecated MenuManager 1.50
MicroTiny 2.0 Depends on: FileManager
ModuleManager 2.0
Navigator 1.0
News 2.50
Search 1.50
I'm trying to set the mail settings but when I click Submit the settings aren't saved. I can't even see where in the database they'd be stored. I get a red error box stating that they're not saved, when I try to test. Other settings I change elsewhere are saved so I don't think it's a permissions problem, unless it writes to a file & not the DB.
I've just updated CMS Mailer to the latest version, but the settings for that aren't saving either.
Many TIA's
Regards,
Simon
Email settings not saving
Re: Email settings not saving
Please upgrade to the latest.SimonF wrote:Running 2.1.1
Deprecxated in CMSMS 2.x and the one that comes wit the stock install in the CMSMS 2 branch is just a wrapper to the functionality that was moved to the core. As announced CMSMailer 5.2.14 was meant for CMSMS 1.12.1 and not for the CMSMS 2 branch. Upgrading your CMSMS installation will solve that issue.SimonF wrote:deprecated CMSMailer 5.2.14 <-- even though it's the latest one.
Additionally: please search the forums before you post. More often than not the question has already been answered or the issue has already been solved and a fix posted here or in the forge.
Thanks.

Re: Email settings not saving
Thanks for your reply, Jo.
I have read the topic of the link you posted. I upgraded it since my Module Manager told me to. Since it "cannot be uninstalled" and other things depend on it do you not think this is misleading, since as you have just done, the general theory is "run the latest version".
Just FYI I spent 2 hrs searching the forum for anything similar to the issue I have, finding nothing. First I searched topics on the mail settings, finding posts regarding various V1.x issues from years ago, but nothing relevant. Most were saying how "sendmail not working" etc, but I couldn't even get the settings for From address etc to save to even test it. Are the settings saved to the SitePrefs table in the db, where everything else seems to be or are they saved elsewhere? I was wondering if I had the wrong permissions on a file somewhere....
Regarding the upgrade to 2.1.2 I also searched for documentation on the process, since I had a nightmare even trying to upgrade the 1. whatever it was version I installed as a test site 6 months ago using the PHAR file on the host I presently have to work with. In the end I did a totally clean install and have had to migrate the content manually, so I'm reticent about even trying an upgrade at the moment, but I suppose it's the answer.
Saying that, any idea why I can't set these settings in 2.1.1? Surely it's worked for everyone else or did email never work in 2.1.1? It won't save in either Global Settings or in the CMSMailer settings.
My host stats are:
cPanel Version 11.52.2 (build 4)
Theme x3
Apache Version 2.4.16
PHP Version 5.3.29
MySQL Version 5.6.28
Architecture x86_64
Operating System linux
Shared IP Address XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
Path to sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail
Path to Perl /usr/bin/perl
Perl Version 5.8.8
Kernel Version 2.6.18-471.3.1.el5.lve0.8.72
cPanel Pro 1.0 (RC1)
I checked for things like JQuery & am running the latest versions etc. I'm new to CMSMS but not new to web hosting. My new OSCommerce installation is working fine on the same host too.
Thank you once again.

Re: Email settings not saving
Your question was already answered. Sorry you don't like it.
Re: Email settings not saving
Sorry, but my most basic question was not answered so I shall rephrase it & I apologise if people have misunderstood me.
In v2.1.1, Settings - Global Settings, Mail Settings, when you type in an address in the From Address box and a name in the From Name box and set other settings & choices, then click the Submit button where should those settings be saved to? The database or a file?
I would assume the database - SitePrefs table?
It does not matter whether I choose mail, sendmail or smtp as options. The settings are not saved.
My siteprefs table has 49 rows in it, none of them referring to email settings which is why I'm confused as to how this is supposed to work.
THAT was my basic question.

Re: Email settings not saving
Maybe you've forgot the first step - check the system requirements
Minimum is 5.4, recommended 5.5 or higher ...SimonF wrote: PHP Version 5.3.29
Re: Email settings not saving
Actually it was, and quite thoroughly at that. Again: in v2.1.1, Settings - Global Settings, Mail Settings work as long as the proper version of CMSMailer (the one that comes with the install and which is just a wrapper of the core functionality) is properly installed.SimonF wrote:Sorry, but my most basic question was not answered so I shall rephrase it & I apologise if people have misunderstood me.
Any other configuration (including the fact that you somehow managed to install 2.1.1 on a server with PHP under minimum requirements as chandra mentioned) is abnormal...
I offered a solution...
