cgsimple::has_children([$alias]) not working - CMSMS 2.1.1

I am trying to use this

cgsimple::has_children([$alias])

Example:
{cgsimple::has_children('','has_children')}{if $has_children}The current page has children{else}The current page has no children{/if}

But it will NOT recognise that children exist.
Has anyone else had this ? Can anyone test for me ?

Ah OK, do we have to do this now :-

rather than this ?

{cgsimple::get_children('',0,'children')}

Which doesn't seem to work anymore
