Upgraded to 2.0: non-admin group no access to My Preferences

Post by tristan »

Hi there,

did an update to 2.0 but now all the users that aren't in the admin backend group lost the My Preferences menu item. When they click directly on their username, leading to myaccount.php they'll only get an empty white page. No php errors whatsoever unfortunately. This is what's installed at the moment:

There is a new permission in 2.0 entitled "Manage My Settings"

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I can't find a "Manage My Settings" setting in the group permissions however. Wouldn't it be more logical to call it "Manage My Preferences" by the way? And shouldn't the link in the welcome username to myaccount.php be disabled if you don't have permission?

Is there any short term solution for users to set their WYSIWYG setting to the new MicroTiny now without having to set them to the admin group? Since especially these kind of users need to use a WYSIWYG editor I would love to see a solution soon.

Fixed in SVN, will be shipped in the upcoming release 2.1

I can't change the name of the permission that easy... We have to reinvent the permission structure some day... Lets do that for 2.0, ohw wait... :)

Wouldn't this be a good moment to change the permission name for this specific permission though? Since it's not there yet in the current stable version.

Also if it's called Preferences in the vertical menu why call it Settings in the permissions?

Any way to get a pointer how to patch this now on 2.0.1.1 by the way? At the moment all the non-admin users in upgraded installs are without WYSIWYG editor.

Sorry, after updating to 2.1 I still cannot find the "Manage My Settings" permission in the group permissions. Any idea?

Thanks,
Bash

Is the "Manage My Account" still there though?

Maybe a fresh 2.1 is still an option? Maybe with some help from the Calguys Content Utilities export/import functionality.
