Upgrade to 1.12 - Company Directory Update Modules Issue

Post by michaywood »

I was upgrading my site to 1.12 and the upgrade process worked well. I then went into the Module Manager and started upgraded the modules one by one. When I got to the Company Director module, it had 2 other dependencies that had to be updated as well and so I clicked the INSTALL button. then after a few seconds it took me to a blank page that said:

Code: Select all

[an error occurred while processing this directive]
I now can't seem to get past this page. Any ideas?

Either try installing the dependency modules via 'Modules' using the XML file from the forge.

Alternative: download and extract the modules from the forge. Upload the new files to the server (overwriting old files) and in 'Modules' hit the 'uploads' link in the specific module rows.

Of course you make a backup of files and databases first (but I assume you did that already before starting the upgrade).

So, I did some more testing and just did a fresh/clean install of CMSMS 1.12 (new database, new files, etc...). All I did was install the CMS, and then once installed I went to Module Manager, searched available modules and clicked on Company Directory to download and install. There are ~5 dependency applications so I clicked the INSTALL button. After a few seconds, it just takes me to a white/blank page. So it appears something in CD or it's dependencies doesn't work with PHP5.4 and CMSMS 1.12?

And you make that assumption based on what?
Is there a PHP error that you can post here?
Did you follow velden's suggestion at all?
I actually needed to make a full installation of CMSMS 1.12 with CD and dependencies and all is working well with PHP 5.6.
There is a known issue with upgrading/installing modules having JQTools as a dependency (which should be solved in a new release)... So either install modules one by one before their dependents or follow velden's suggestion.

[solved] Re: Upgrade to 1.12 - Company Directory Update Modu

Post by michaywood »

I had seen a Calguy post about <PHP5.3 issues and recommends upgrading to 5.5, but Bluehost (my web host) only lets me select 5.2 or 5.4 as PHP versions. I did try installing by xml but still had jQuery tool issues so guess will just have to wait until resolved. I've found an alternate solution not using CMSMS for now so can get by until then

? ? ? ?

Not that I know of. It's working perfectly with PHP 5.4...
You will however find a post that all his modules now require PHP 5.4 as a minimum.

It would help, as always, to post your system info...

Yeah, that's exactly what I do when a module I am trying to install has dependencies and says it's about to install all of them at once. I install them all individually one by one. More chance of the host working OK (considering potential timeout and memory issues if it tries to install a great load of modules at once) plus, if something goes wrong there's more chance of finding out what went wrong. I generally have no problems that way.
