Upgrade sticks at Step 5

I am aware of an older posting (http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/posting. ... e=post&f=3) similar to this title but am unable to continue the conversation.

I am upgrading from 1.10.7 to 1.11.12 and have made the cardinal error of not upgrading the modules beforehand and the upgrade sticks at Step 5. Is there a way out of this please apart from reverting to a back-up copy of the files?

ps the on-screen message when the site is requested is:
Fatal error: Cannot override final method CMSModule::GetModulePath() in /home/***/public_html/modules/Captcha/lib/classes/module/class.captcha.php on line 30

Every works fine now. Thank you for your help. This was all my fault through making a serious error of omission ie checking instructions!!
