[News module] $items is empty. Why?

Hello,

I have a website running CMSMS 1.11.10, and I have some strange problem with the news module. There are news articles available, but still, the $items array is empty in the summary template.

On another site, I have the same CMSMS version running, and there, the news module works correctly.

As far as I see, the summary template is correct. Does anyone have an idea, what could be wrong that $items is not set correctly?
