[SOLVED]Any issue if i install cmsms BEFORE dns propagation

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[SOLVED]Any issue if i install cmsms BEFORE dns propagation

Post by userwords »

I got 3 questions for you:

1. Any issue if i install cmsms before dns propagation using a temporary url of the like

instead of waiting dns to propagate son i can install accessing cms intaller using regular url

i mean maybe the url you use on install changes what cmsms writes in the config.php or in database.

i ask this cause im migrating a web made on cmsms from a hosting to another hosting, and as it is a cmsms old version, instead of making the hundred jumps to upgrade to the last version one version by one, as it is not too much content, i will input all manually on a last version fresh installation.

But as that will take much time, i cannot change dns until i complete the content input.

Also once cmsms 2 is released, could you upgrade without issues from the last version released before it. Because if not, maybe i should wait until it is released to make this migration.

1: no issue. Latest versions of cmsms by default do not write those url's in config.php. And even if those config lines exist those are there to be changed.

You can setup CMSMS with whatever URL you want (or use an IP address).

When you do the DNS migration, and it is complete you may have to clear the cache a few times... and you should double check your config.php and .htaccess files

Changing the root url by dns or other configuration is just like moving a site to a different host... you have to clear the cache afterwards (or after any change to the config.php).
