New installation- cannot access admin panel

I have just installed CMSMS onto my website, but I can't log into the admin panel. When I got to "http://www.mywebsite.com/admin", it takes me to the CMSMS default homepage: it says my installation was successful and how to use CMSMS. There is nowhere to enter my login details. This is same page I am taken to when I visit my website.

Is there a .htaccess file on the root of the CMSMS installation?
There seems to be some weird rewrite rule in effect.
I tested up untill:

all with the same effect and I bet I could go on...

Or you changed admin folder name and 404 error bounces to home page? Even "http://www.healthymuslimah.com/AnythingYouWantToType shows home page.

Yes there is a .htaccess file in the root and the admin folder is still called admin- I just left the default installation settings and haven't changed anything.

Could the problem be something to do with previous software installed on this website? I had WordPress and another blog software installed but removed them. Maybe I left some of the old files on there?
I didn't want to delete anything that I didn't know what it was for, in case I messed things up.

Should I just delete everything from the root and do a fresh installation of CMSMS?

I could provide ftp details?

I've deleted everything on the root and done a fresh installation. It works fine now. I feel really silly for not doing that in the first place and wasting your time over this...sorry!

I'm sure you'll hear more from me over the coming weeks whilst I'm creating my site!!
