[Solved] Can Uploads scan subdirectories?

I'm setting up the Uploads module to serve as a document repository for large amount of documents. I'll have multiple categories (8-15), and within each will be multiple documents for a large number of clients:

Category A
ABC Corp Doctype1
ABC Corp Doctype2
ABC Corp Doctype3
etc
DEF Corp Doctype1
DEF Corp Doctype2
DEF Corp Doctype3
etc

Category B
etc

If you extrapolate to 50+ document types, over 100 companies, you can see how these directories will become crowded and confusing, especially if the naming convention drifts at all, which NEVER happens with clients, right?

I've looked at a number of options for handling this, including the Download Manager and ListIt2 (Extended). Given the security requirements surrounding this project, Uploads is the best option. However, it doesn't allow sub-categories, which would make my life (somewhat) easier.

What I'm wondering is - can Uploads be set to scan sub-folders? If I set up a directory (e.g. Category A), and in that place sub-folders (e.g. abccorp, defcorp, etc.), can Uploads scan these and add the files within these folders to the Category? My tests so far say no, but I'm hoping someone knows of a way, or sees another solution to my problem.

sorry. Uploads 'categories' are only in the directory specified, and it does not recurse into subdirs.

Thanks - I suspected as much. It's still the best solution for this problem, so it's on to developing a naming convention for them to stick to!
