1 Unhandled Notification - Nothing there

Post by CRSounds »

Hi All,
I'm Brand new to CMSMS so go gentle with me ;)
I have searched the board and found some similar questions but non exactly like mine and non that answer my question...
I have a message come up that I have 1 Unhandled Notification.
But when I click the notification I get taken to the home page.
Where can I find this elusive notification?

Thanks in advance.

On fresh installs there are some times to warnings, install directory still exist, CMSMailer has not been configured yet...

As for not seeing them, I've never come across that before, go to system information page and see if you have any yellow ! or red X, your system info here may help us...

Many thanks for the quick reply Dr.CSS.
In System Information the only things that were flagged are:

1. Maximum Execution Time (max_execution_time) - Was 30 Now set to 120

2. disable_functions in PHP (disable_functions) Caution dl, passthru, proc_open, proc_close, allow_url_fopen

3. config_file - Was writeable now Read Only

I have changed 1 & 3 as indicated and they are now green ticked.
As for 2 I'm not sure there is anything I can do about them?

Just to be clear. The live site is, or seems to be working fine.
This notification came up when I upgraded to the new release.
The Notification is still there.

Interestingly when I click on the notification I get the home screen content but without the breadcrumbs in the black bar at the top and the Home title below it is missing. But the contents are exactly the same as the home screen.
Sorry I'm not sure if that's significant as I have never had a notification to deal with and so am not sure what I'm supposed to see when I click it.

Regards
Clive

Normally they just expand to show the warning/s, have you tried the ncleangrey admin theme to see if they show in it..?

AhHa! Yes that gave me a + sign next to the notification which expands top show the details.
The notification says..

Code: Select all

Core Warning: install directory still exists. Please remove it completely.
Does this mean I should delete the /public_html/cmsms folder.
It's empty anyway?
Or is it refering to some other directory?

Forget my last. I can't amend/delete it as its with admin for approval.
I found the install directory and renamed it. The Notification has gone and all seems to be working on the site so no harm done :D
Can I ask what the risk is in leaving that directory there?
The notification only came up when I updated the software.
I'll give it a while and of no adverse effects I'll delete it.

That folder is only for installing/upgrading and should be deleted after, if you leave it there someone could use it to mess up your site, point to a different DB etc...
