Hello!
Since 2 days now, my CMS Made Simple has been acting very weird.
I'm trying to make changes, specifically in the Templates/Stylesheets/Pages areas and when I hit "Submit", it gets stuck trying to save.
When I have multiple tabs open in my browser, that is where the problem is most prominent. I have Templates in one tab, Stylesheets in another & Pages in another, sometimes more open with different templates and what not. This was never a problem before!
But now when I try to "Submit" it stays stuck for minutes and evidently, never actually finishes saving.
When I have 1 tab open and go in, don't edit anything and try to "Submit" then it takes time, but it makes it.
Seems like there are performance issues.
Are there any tests I can do to see what the problem is?
Thank you!
Cannot Save Template/Stylesheet changes.
Re: Cannot Save Template/Stylesheet changes.
Did you set the "server" time in config, do you have any yellow ! or red X in system info page..?

I'm running CMS Made Simple: 1.11.2 "Isabela" on http://www.justhost.com where they have cPanel installed.
cPanel v: 11.32.3 (build 21).
Apache v: 2.2.23.
PHP v: 5.2.17.
MySQL v: 5.1.65-community-log.
Operating system: Linux.
I have no done anything with "server" time in the config file. There is currently no command for "server" time in the config file!
I have 1 red warning which is about the config file and says:
"config.php writable. It is more safe if you change permission to read-only"
//
The funny thing is that the loading problem is on & off. Just when I was writing this I had a major problem submitting Pages changes that I made in the content area. It was impossible and wouldn't submit.
I could however submit template changes, with 5-8 seconds delays.
I also did a webpage loading test which showed considerable delay from the home folder loading but files, images etc. were able to load fine.
Here is the analysis:
http://www.webpagetest.org/result/12101 ... 1/details/
Then I went to Justhost and checked the error.log and just after, the site started running fine. It's funny since this is the second time that after I check the error.log in the cPanel from Justhost that the website decides to work fine... Almost as if Justhost has a system running that will allocate server time for your website if you check there, haha.
Here is the second test I did after that:
http://www.webpagetest.org/result/121010_XA_KMG/
I have no idea what is delaying the home folder so much to the point where it almost doesn't even load.
Personally I'd like to add that I don't think it's the code giving me problems.
I had wordpress & drupal installed before I installed CMS Made Simple, then having deleted both wordpress & drupal by that point. They were 1-point script installs. Could be that there are some old wordpress files giving me problems in the database? I doubt it though!
I'm thinking to do a clean re-install of the database & CMS Made Simple with a back-up of my website but I'd like to try to avoid that!
Please ask if you want any other information. I'd really like to isolate the problem so that whatever it might be, I can find a solution that is on-point!
I hope there is some information that can be of any help to resolve this issue of mine!

My website does not have any caching as far as I know. At least, I haven't set anything up in CMS Made Simple nor cPanel.
I did a traceroute:
It seems like it isn't even able to connect most of the time!
Here are the results:

I'm really starting to think that the problem is Justhost and their servers as I've seen multiple people complain about the same thing on the internet about their servers being slow!
Hope this helps out a little more!
Maybe it'll be easier to locate the problem now, if it's CMS Made Simple or Justhost servers.
Re: Cannot Save Template/Stylesheet changes.
Hey Dr.CSS, this is not my problem at all.
All my pages are visible in the interface.
The problem is that sometimes CMS Made Simple & my website show very slow load speeds. When this is the case, I can make changes to the page content but I cannot "Submit" the change without it getting 'stuck' trying to execute the order fully.
But I'm guessing that all slow speeds have to do with server time and so I think I'll find myself speaking to my host provider but I wanted to check and see if there was some solution in terms of caching or otherwise.
