why are my internal links appearing as absolute/external?

For questions and problems with the CMS core. This board is NOT for any 3rd party modules, addons, PHP scripts or anything NOT distributed with the CMS made simple package itself.

why are my internal links appearing as absolute/external?

I have specified all of my inline links to be relative and yet when I look at view source they are all absolute paths, including the menu urls. So accoring to analysis tools they all appear as external links. why would this be? and does it really matter?
