[solved]cmsms prob loading page in browser localhost xampp

I am very confused. One minute I was working on my page which showed fine in firefox, I had just edited a menu template (which I've even tried putting back as was) went off to have a cup of tea, refreshed the page and now I'm a page load error
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web

Why why why? have tried refreshing, restarting firefox and xampp, rebooting pc and the same error. I can log into admin and when I preview the page I see the error page. is there any way I can tweak the amount of timethe server allows for the page to load or something?

well I realised it was my fault, I tried it with the example template and it worked so deduced it was to do with the menu I'd just added. sorted now.
