module upload form disappeared[SOLVED]

Hi,
I was trying to upload SimpleSlider-0.3.xml, downloaded from the forge. I uploaded jquery first and installed it. I then selected the SimpleSlider file and hit the submit button in the Modules page. The page refreshed and now the form for module upload at the bottom of the page in gone.

Also jquery is not listed in the modules list.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I see jQuery: 1.2.0 at the bottom of your list, is a good chance Simple slider doesn't work with 1.10.* as it hasn't had a release in a long time...

Thanks Dr.CSS for advice.
I solved this by enabling advanced mode under "settings" in File Manager. Then I deleted the SimpleSlider directory in the 'modules' folder - My module upload form has returned and jquery is now visable in the modules list...
