I need to upgrade my cms page to the latest verson. From what I read here, i need to do the following:
Upgrading
To upgrade from a previous version of CMS Made Simple, do like this:
1. Backup your database and all the files in your CMS Made Simple folder on the server.
2. Download the latest CMS Made Simple package.
3. Upload the new files, overwriting all the files on your server.
4. Navigate to /install/upgrade.php. That automatically makes any necessary changes in the database.
Do I need to use a "backup" module I hear about for upgrading? Or just save my folders and database on my own? Also, if i overwrite the new files to my old ones, wont it (for example copy a modules folder w/3 mods, or my current one with 12)?
Correct steps for upgrading?
Re: Correct steps for upgrading?
It doesnt really matter how you do the backup (I usually just do mysql dump) if all goes well you wont need that backup for anything (but if something breaks its nice to have working backup handy :)

By the way, a Mysql Dump module is in the works.tsw wrote:It doesnt really matter how you do the backup (I usually just do mysql dump)

Re: Correct steps for upgrading?
it seems that those flash animations are in the root of cmsms installation. just check that the files stay there after upgrade (or better, move em to /uploads/flash/ and change the embed tag accordingly)
Update shouldnt change anything in your templates
