How to design a website to sell memberships to content?

Post by dodgebros »

I am new to cmsmadesimple. I need to design a website to sell yearly memberships to the content within the website. I am not sure which modules I need to accomplish this, especially the collecting of money for the memberships. One note is I need a way for the client to signup for 30 days of free membership so that they can pay by check which requires several days for me to receive and process.

Any help to get me started will be greatly appreciated. As a side note, the more I learn about cmsmadesimple the more I love it!

Thanks,

I have done some more research and now have a little better understanding as to which modules I need. Here's an area I need help with:

I need to create a listing of embedded YouTube videos at my website and have some way for a user to create a playlist from this listing. I read somewhere in this forum that you can embed the videos into the Gallery module but I don't have a clue as to how to let them create a playlist. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance !

dodgebros,

From what I understand from your question is that a visitor becomes a 30 days free member and once paid becomes a member that gets access to a list of movies that you have selected. Next thing is that the member selects only those movies that he/she wants to view more regularly (the playlist). Is this a one time off thing for the member, or do you have the idea that the playlist should be the same (as selected by the member) after let's say 3 weeks?
If you want to save the playlist per member, you need to save the settings per user in a database. This means, I think, either build a UDT that saves/retrieves information for the playlist or a module that supports this.

Thanks Duketown for replying.. Yes your description is correct, the users playlist should be stored for their use the next time they login.

thanks again,
