[Solved- kind of] Old version of PHP causes failed install

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[Solved- kind of] Old version of PHP causes failed install

Post by tomterrific »

My web host is using PHP version 5.2.0-8+etch and the current version of CMSMS fails to install - understandably. When I try to load a previous version of CMSMS, I continue to get the same versioning error at step 2 of the install. Below is the actual error message. My question is, what was the last version of CMSMS that will execute and install under the described conditions, or how do I get around this issue?

My web host is unwilling to install the current ver of PHP.

Thanks :0)

Checking for PHP version 5.2.4+
(minimum 5.2.4, recommend 5.2.12 or greater)

CMS Made Simple requires a php version of 5.2.4 or greater (you have 5.2.0-8+etch16), but PHP 5.2.12 or greater is recommended to ensure maximum compatibility with third party addons

Get a new host. PHP 5.2 has arrived at 'end of life' already. If your host won't upgrade there isn't much we, or you can do.
