Album setup

Post by Muzzy »

Hi.

I have setup an album on the site and it shows all the thumbnails with a large picture underneath.
The problem is that if you click on a new thumbnail or the next large picture, the whole page resets to the top and you have to continually scroll down to see the large picture. Here is the link to the page http://www.rocky-road.org/index.php?page=events_photos

What I would prefer is a view of the thumbs, which if you click one of them, will take you to the large picture only, allowing you to move to each large picture in turn as if on one seperate page to the thumbs and to be able to return to the thumbs to choose a diffferent picture if wanted. Basically the thumbs would be on one page and the large pictures would be on another I guess.

Is this possible? If so how do I modify Album to display like this?

Thanks.
Mike.

Well muscroft, I would pick another of the five templates that comes with Album - I use the flash thing: Thickbox i think its called.

If you go to the preferences tab and look there, youll see 5 templates. Try them out and Im sure youll find one you like.

Apparently, I'm having the same prb as Muscroft, and that is using the Thickbox... I click on the image, and thought nothing was happening, until I realized that if I scrolled way down, I'd see the pic. I like the "pop up" style windows, but they don't have a "next" or "previous" option. Not sure what or how I would set up a gallery/slideshow.

Damn I'm such a noob!  :-\

Bob the Thickbox template doesn't have a next / previous option on the image. It basically just uses Ajax to scale your image and center it on the screen whilst darkening the background. Click on the image and you are back to your image gallery list again.

Have a look here for a Thickbox and a non Thickbox way of doing it.
http://www.cms.shoesforindustry.net/cmsmodules/album/
The example above uses Thickbox 2 which I hope will make it into Album in the next release. I'm expecting Cody to add the next and previous stuff in the next version?

(In the non Thickbox one you could alter the template to have the image at the top?)

Also look at alternative Ajax like LightBox2 which does have this next / previous thing. Mark has a lot of cool galeries including the LightBox2 one over at:

Hope this helps,

In the Lightbox2 you have to hover/move the mouse over the large img. to get the next/prev. links.
