Help! Hostgater turned off CMSMS site/high server load

Post by KoalaBlue »

Hi there - I'm not sure if this is in the right section - please do let me know if I should move this - thanks!

I'm in desperate need of help. I'm hosting a CMSMS client website on Hostgator, and I just got a phonecall and an email from them:
I apologize, but I was forced to suspend the script "/home/client-website-name/public_html/index.php" as it was causing a high load on the server, and due to it affecting all of the other accounts on the system, I was forced to take immediate action for the health of the server.

Unfortunately I do not have any specific recommendations for this script, however, in general, adding some sort of caching mechanism, where the script does not need to generate a new page with every request, helps to lower the over load that a script will cause. Likely the original author or support group of the software that you are using will be able to help you to understand how to add something of this nature.
I am at a total loss as to how to proceed. Has anyone seen this type of error before?

I have checked the source code on the home page and found this information:

First step you should do is doing a full backup and updating your site to latest release, 1.6.7 is no longer supported.

I have multiple CMSMS installations over 12 Host Gator accounts and have never had a problem. I doubt it has anything specifically to do with CMSMS. Even with the older versions I never have had a problem.

If you are using cache and your index.php is not infected, no hosting company has a right to pull your website if it is "causing too much load".

Switch to another hosting provider, or complain to a tech support manager/supervisor. IT IS THEIR JOB to tell you WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. Sound like some idiotic policy or a newbie tech who just decided to pull a website down.

They do have the right if your site goes over your allotted bandwidth, they shut down all of my sites...

They were older versions of CMSMS that have a vulnerability that was fixed in the latest version of CMSMS, mine were all hacked in the Search folder sending spam out like it was christmas, after updating all sites to latest CMSMS all was good...
