CGGoogleMaps markers not showing

I'm using the following versions:

CMSMS - 1.9.4.2
CGExtensions - 1.25.3
CGSimpleSmarty - 1.4.8
CGGoogleMaps - 2.1.4
PHP - 5.x
MySQL 5.x
All running on Ubuntu

I have created a map and added a pointer (lat/long) and the pointer doesn't show up. In order to debug this, I have:

1. Gone to a working site with exactly the same software versions and copied the map settings (except API key), map settings and marker settings from that site.

2. Overwritten the module files with wget from the S3 repository so that I know the module files are all OK.

3. Overwritten the entire CMS build as above to ensure the CMS is not missing files.

4. Simplified the page template to remove all javascript from the page except jQuery (1.4.4 on both sites).

5. Trawled the forum for answers.

6. Emptied cache.

I have no idea why my map isn't showing the pointer and hope that someone may be able to provide a simple answer. I am very sorry of I've forgotten anything obvious, but I have covered everything I can think of.
