Problems with the menu for the left of the page

Hi all I have gotten advice and i did read all the faq and all and i seem cant find a soloution for this
What i want to do is seprate my top menu item and my left menu items so i have differnt pages viewing in a differnt menu.
I have gotten this far {menu template="bMenu" items="support"} this works fine but it doesnt show the sub menus now what is the easyste and quickste way to sort this out ??
