Pretty URLS [SOLVED]

Post by peterbisset »

Hi,

I am integrating CMS Made Simple into my current website and want to ensure that the url's remain the same so am using pretty url's.

I have managed to configure pretty url's to work if I put a file extension in the relevant config.php section:

e.g. $config['page_extension'] = '.html'; or $config['page_extension'] = '.php';

However what I need to achieve is for my url's not to have a file extension:

e.g. http://www.maidenheadtown.org/maidenhead-restaurants/

The problem is when I leave the page_extension blank:

$config['page_extension'] = ''

I get an error (see the above mentioned page):

"Error 403 - Forbidden

You tried to access a document for which you don't have privileges."

Here is the relevant part of my config.php file:

Code: Select all

$config['url_rewriting'] = 'mod_rewrite';
$config['page_extension'] = '';
$config['query_var'] = 'page';
$config['use_hierarchy'] = true;
Here is my .htaccess:

Code: Select all

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php

A 403 response code?

I would say the page_extensions setting is not the issue here, if it were you'd get a 404.

I've used the no extension method ($config['page_extension'] = '') many times, and never saw any problems.

The '$config['use_hierarchy'] = true;' is depracted since cmsms 1.8, so you can remove that line.
(In return we recieved a fantastic custom url feature)

Which version are you trying to install, I get the idea it's not the latest (1.9.4.1), otherwise I'm sure you'd have found an been using that custom url feature instead of the pretty_url.
Am I right?

I am using version 1.9.4.1.

I input the custom url: maidenhead-restaurants but that didn't seem to work?

PLEASE IGNORE THIS POST I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION, THE WEBSITE WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT IN ASP AND I ALREADY HAD A FOLDER WITH THAT NAME CONTAINING AN INDEX.ASP FILE.

SORRY FOR WASTING YOUR TIME.
