Lightbox (Gallery/Album) not working in IE9 [SOLVED]

In case anyone else uses the Lightbox plugin in Gallery and/or Album modules, there appears to be a problem when viewed with Internet Explorer 9 in native mode. (Works in compatibility mode.) The images appear in a new blank page rather in the normal popup window. This has happened on most, but not all, of my CMSMS 1.9.4.1 sites with the final version of IE9. I do not understand the problem but.......

A solution is to update the prototype javascript library from 1.6 to 1.7 in the lightbox templates within the Gallery or Album modules. Solves the problem for me but at the expense of a larger prototype.js download, 159kB compared to 132kB. This may be becasue I could not find a minimised version of the 1.7 library.

I came across exactly the same problem in IE 9. So, thanks!

I downloaded a file called prototype.js at that link you mentioned(but where & how should I update within the Gallery?)

I copied that file with updated version to the folder modules/Gallery/templates/lightbox/
and it works well again !

I am using the 'slimbox' template in the Gallery and have hit the same issue. Please advise on which file to update to resolve the IE9 issue as here please.
