Response not of type text/xml

Post by wilch »

Hi,

This topic has been mentioned twice before without any real explanation, but I'm still having problems.
I installed the latest version on a new host without any problems, but as soon as I click on Module Manager I receive the following message;
SOAP Problem (http://modules.cmsmadesimple.org/soap.p ... Repository): Response not of type text/xml

I've even removed 1.9.3 level & gone back to 1.6.9 without success. The crazy thing is it works under localhost & XAMPP. So it looks like a permissions problem to me.

BTW -This is the first time I've used this host http://www.easily.co.uk & don't have the same sort of access when I've previously used CMSMS. I'd be most grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

Regards,

Chris

That sounds like an outgoing request problem, look in system information page to see if you have any yellow ! or red X...

Hi,

Thanks for the reply - I did as you said & then compared the result with a working site I have on another host. There was some descrepancies which I amended and the System Information now looks clean. But I still get the same error when I click on Module Manager. I'm at a loss what to do next.

If it is a localhost install you may have a firewall blocking out/in calls...

It works fine on localhost ... it's with a Hosting company called easily.co.uk ..... their helpdesk is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard! They've just told me to increase the memory limit in php.ini to 32M ... tried that - no use. Also increased it to 50, again - foobar. I'd move the website to a host where I know it would work, but it unfortunately belongs to a friend whom I'm doing this as a favour.

If module manager doesn't work it most likely is an fopensock/fopen problem, the host doesn't allow outgoing/incoming action...

Sorry it's taken so long to reply ....
First the good news the host co. fixed the Soap error (although I was not informed what they did). But now I now try and install FormBuilder I get the following error messages;Warning: xml_parse_into_struct() [function.xml-parse-into-struct]: Memory allocation failed : growing buffer in /web1/user31926/website/lib/classes/class.moduleoperations.inc.php on line 174

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 22020096) (tried to allocate 111345 bytes) in /web1/user31926/website/lib/classes/class.moduleoperations.inc.php on line 174

I tried increasing the memory limit but they now inform me that the max is 32M. I'm sure I've installed with less on other hosts. Their helpdesk also say it could be down to it hosts using suphp. Anyone ever got around this problem?

Regards, Chris
