opt-in system like http://www.easywebautomation.com/

Post by loosefast »

Hi,

I am trying to set up an "opt-in" system for a book author's web site similar to the one on http://www.easywebautomation.com/.

This asks visitors to provide their name and email address, and in return they will be sent an email confirmation directing them to a web page where they can download a pdf e-book. This page, by the way is NOT password protected and could be accessed by anybody that knew the URL.

On the cmsmadesimple site I have set up http://www.winsloweliot.com (0.13 "Canary") I have created a "Member Log-in" using Frontendusers-Self-registration-customcontent latest versions. Unfortunately, this requires the user to create a username and password in order to gain entry to the protected page and this is not what the client wants. I am also having issues setting this up which I'll detail in another post.

I was thinking of using newslettermadesimple, but this module only collects the email address, last time I looked at it.

Is my only option to create a basic form that collects name and email and sends an auto-response?

Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks

FeedbackForm module will let you get a request for url in email then you can send it to them...
each form has it's own customizable 'Thank you your form has been submitted' page which could have a link to the page...
they fill form, submit, and the link shows up...
nothing on your end required and you will get email of who is getting the pdf e-book...
of course you can have it not send you an email and just let them have the link...

Thanks Mark. Sounds good. I'll let you know how it goes.

I made a new class for the feedback form that allows you to send an email to the user based on a form feild and also send you a copy if you want as well so that may work for this kind of case. I made it becuase the compay I work for wanted to have send to a freind god nows why

You can also use it with the email from method that allready is there

Now  I just have to work out how to get it uploaded and tested in the forge

I am just giving them the stuff on the "thanks for submitting" page. This is just a way to collect names and emails
