simple nav parent problem

Hi, having a problem with simple navigation template (horizontal) in that it's not assigning correct class to parent when navigating to child - is there a simple fix to this before I start recoding?

Other templates/themes do this correctly, so the information is obviously available - interestingly, with the news module, I have set up a parent in nav to be "news", navving to anything in news from news module correctly assigns menuactive to parent, but not otherwise.

I have pretty URLs enabled if that's relevant.
