Advanced Search module?

Hi,

Is there a way of displaying a more advanced search of pages/news articles in CMSMS? Ie having a drop-down menu for 'to and from' created dates, or for searching within a specific category in the News module.

The core module works really well, but having another way of searching would be good. Perhaps I could purchase commercial support for this if anyone fancies quoting me to develop the module if there's not an open-source way of doing it?
