Hosting refuse to disable open basedir will that ruin cms made simple

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

They say it will compromise security and that they wont disable it for a shared account

Do you think it will prevent cms made simple from running smooth definitively

Being most ppl on shared hostings is an issue to ask users of cms made simple for a requirement they cant decide by themselves. In direct admin servers EVERY OF THEM get open basedir by default so this is a big issue unless you say me that core will work and only a few modules may work around it

My host also doesn't want to disable open basedir.

I've not experienced any problems with the installation of CMSMS and/or modules  ;D

glad to hear

in case there is any issue with open basedir do you know how i would be supposed to identify it
i mean will i see something or maybe only visitors will know

is there any log that will be flooded with warnings so i can know there are issues and that while being empty would mean all is going ok.

Actually, diggin' deep in my memory, I have once had a problem.  ::)
You can read about it here: http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 435.0.html

In that topic CalGuy1000 (one of the developers) clearly states that CMSMS officially does not support open_basedir and it must be turned off.

On my website, it only concerns the Front End Users module. It showed a couple of warning on front- as well as back-end. These can be removed by turning off notifications and warnings.

I've never seen any warnings/notifications in any type of log, only on the page where the Front End User module was installed.

To be honest, I've never really cared about the openbase dir, cause i've not seen any 'major' problems on the website. Only these warnings with the FEU-module, but removed those by turning off warnings in the config.php file, I don't want my visitors to see any of them anyway.
(For example: when I'm doing upgrades or made a stupid mistake somewhere  :D)

I would say: no problem!
