Modules interaction in the backend

Hello,

Is there any tutorial regarding how to integrate one module's functionality into another module in the back end.

I have tried to call a coupe of other (installed and working) modules into the news modules, so the functionality of those modules is available to the administrator when editing or adding news, but to no avail.

Can some one point me to some reading material regarding the integration of one module into another ? Or if someone who has already implemented this can provide some code as example it would be greatly appreciated.

(PS. not referring to the frontend at all - just the admin backend section)
