Facebook Type Community

Hi - I am relatively new to CMS MS and just setting up my first site for our local allotment society.  However, we are looking to have some kind of community section on our website we do not want to use facebook but have our own.

Does anyone know of any plugins that may do this job?

The 2 modules above will enable your site users to create accounts, Login, manage their profile etc..

You can create a lot of custom modules you need using CTLMM.


It would be much easier if you listed the things you want your site users to be able to do.

Thanks Pukka, as for what users can do, thats why I mentioned facebook as we want them to be able to post and discuss topics (but not in a forum sort of way), upload photos, or even videos.

Send messages to each other etc.

I have had a good look around and I think it would be worth considering software outside of CMSMS so that I would end up with a CMSMS website which I would maintain but then a separate community type software for the rest.

What do you think?

When you say discuss topics do mean in a forum sort of way or in a more facebook wall sort of way? If it's a forum then you can use (http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/forummadesimple).

If it's a wall sort of thing you're looking for then one of the comments module should suffice.

They can upload photos & videos using the Uploads module (http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/uploads/). You'll have to specify the max size for videos (make sure it corresponds with your php settings).


It is possible to have a CMSMS site and a different software for the other side of things. However i think you can achieve most of the things you'll need using CMSMS.
