Cataloger or Catalogue-like module maker (ctlmodulemaker)?

Post by kms »

Has anyone used either of these two modules (or both)? What is the difference? Which would be best for an artist portfolio? I'm looking for something that would group things into categories (paintings, illustration, etc) and then display thumbnails with a short description,  then when you click on the thumbnail  it opens a new window with full preview. Sort of like a photo gallery but with a little more oomph so I can show any type of media (video, flash, etc).  Any recommendations on which way to go? Does anyone have a portfolio built with either of these two modules they wouldn't mind sharing a link to so I could see what they look like and a little how they work?

Thank you!

I've worked with both modules and each of them have their advantages.
The main difference would be that Cataloger uses the content page hierarchy to store its pages where CTLMM is a module "which creates modules" with its own menu entry and management of items.

Both of them will do the job. It's a matter of your personal taste.

Dr CSS, thanks, I'' take a look for some examples.

knlenkes, thanks for the info. Sounds like CTMM might be a little more flexible, I'll give it a go first.

Maybe (with defining some custom-fields) the Gallery module might suit your needs too  ;)
