How to: set "From e-mail address" in form builder to visitors e-mail address

Post by simon.romin »

Hi guys,

I have a small problem.

1/ I have created my contact form in Form Builder.
2/ I have created a field to send the information by e-mail to me.

Is it possible to set the "From address" to the visitor's e-mail address?

Currently whenever completes the form, the "from address" is always "support@******.com"

Can I change this to the visitor's e-mail address instead?

Hope someone can help!

Cheers,

Simon

I believe there is a field for that and it may be in the Help of the module...

The field you're after is Email "From Address" Field. It's not in the Simple Mode dropdown of fields but it's there if you switch to Advanced Mode or just add a field normally.

That will try and send from the email address that's entered by the user.

Now there's an option when adding this field to specify which email header is used.
By default it's the From header - but it's probably slightly safer to use the 'Reply-to' header, just in case anyone is using SPF records to specify which servers are allowed to send mail on their behalf. You'll still be able to hit reply and email your user when the email arrives but it will still come from whatever account you've set up in your CMSMS mailer settings. I don't think it's a big issue though if you'd rather just use the From address.
