Maximum number of Modules

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Maximum number of Modules

Post by the2cv »

Are there a maximum number of Modules that can be uploaded before things start going strange? This is the second time I have loaded CMSMS and it strikes me that I can upload about 4 extra modules then any more causes the css of the Admin panel to stop working, there is no styling or graphics, I remove the 6th Module and it all reverts to normal.

no, there's no limit on the modules, I regularly install about 8 or 9 with no problems, I maintain a dozen so I regularly work on them.

but there may be a problem with one particular module not closing a tag or something that causes things to mess up in the display.

Or it might be an issue with php running out of memory.  Each loaded module does add to the memory load.  Some more than others.

You might want to verify the settings for memory in php.ini and make sure it's a reasonable number.  (The default is 8M, which is too low if you're running more than 4-5 modules regularly)

Ted,

Checking the Server details the PHP memory limit is 16M, anyway I have it all working now by reinstalling (again) the whole CMSMS package with the modules I want already in the package, rather than add them after the main software has been loaded and set up, could it be to do with the database? All  the modules appear and seem to fuction as they should, now all I have to do is work out the Oscommerse problem with line 304 (another thread) and I can get started on the site!

Thanks both of you for suggestions, it just seems either CMSMS or my server is picky about uploading modules.
