[SOLVED] Unable to add/change content as admin

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[SOLVED] Unable to add/change content as admin

Post by snatrott »

I just upgraded to version 1.8.1 and tried to change the template that a page was using and the page refreshes as if I did nothing. So I tried to add a new page and it says that the page was added successfully but nothing shows up in the page list.

http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 734.0.html
This was a post several years ago with what looks like the same issue, but I am not sure what his final solution entailed. Has anyone else came across this issue and/or found a solution?

Thanks.

Corrupt db? - tried a repair?
Write permission to db for the db user?

How did you upgrade.
And from what version?

I used the Base diff from 1.8.

The db user has write access, and everything else works fine.

I can take screen shots of the database settings and tables if that will help at all. I looked around in the tables but I am not really sure what I am looking for.

I really need to be able to add and edit pages very soon, so any suggestions would be awesome. :)

Try running the validation checksum (Site Admin --> System Verification) just to make sure there wasn't a file corrupted during upgrade.
If all else fails, use a bigger hammer.

I ran "cmsmadesimple-1.8.1-base-checksum.dat" and got this: http://acacinci.org/images/aca-checksum.png. I re-uploaded several of the files/folders and nothing changed when I ran it again.

I'd download the full 1.8.1-base and upload the entire package. Then run domain.com/install/upgrade.php

Then download a new 1.8.1-base-checksum.dat and verify the files during the upgrade. I am not wondering if your issues are related to some of the files failing the md5 checksum.

I installed the base files and ran the upgrade and then downloaded the checksum and ran it and got:

Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in /usr/home/acacin/www/htdocs/admin/checksum.php on line 101

All checksums match those in the uploaded file

I tried to add a page in the admin and it said it was added successfully but nothing happened. The page wasn't created in the database.

Try putting the site into debug mode in config.php (Don't do this on a live site) and see if it throws any errors.
If all else fails, use a bigger hammer.

I only have access to the live site, and I don't have a testing environment that will mimic the settings on it.

tyman00,

I am wondering if I could pm you details to log in and take a look at the admin section. Our secondary option is to install a clean version into a subdirectory and then copy content over and then swap the subdirectory with the root directory. I would really prefer not to do that, but it will be our only other viable option at this point.

The database is obviously being read by CMSMS but I am not able to write to the database. Are there any files that I should check the permissions on to make sure that the database and the site have the proper privileges? I already checked the permissions for the database user.

Can you create News articles?
Or save settings?
Just to be sure that it is the write permission.
If you can save something in the database.
There might be an issue with saving pages.
But without any info of the debug ouput it is hard to solve that.

Next time you can do the checksum test during upgrade (or install) "process" in step 1....
Have you apache mod_security module enabled (look to "System Information" in step 2)?
