I have an old website that was created a while back for a nonprofit. They now want to finally change some website content and I thought it would nice to update the site for them.
Would it just be easier to create a new site? They only have about 8 web pages.
Can I upgrade from 1.3.1 to 1.7.1 directly?

same answer as always: 'it depends'.
if it's a stock site with no 3rd party modules you should have no problems other than what's documented in the announcements and change logs,
a) backup
b) restore the site to a test location
c) perform the upgrade on the test location
d) test, fix problems
e) push the upgrades site back to the live location (see sitepusher).

Thanks for the quick response. No modifications were made so it should update fine. Of course, I'll be sure to back up everything first.
