Could a spammer robot collect an Email address on a private page ?

Post by seensite »

Hello,

A CMSMS Editor asked me if, on a page behind FrontEndUsers'login, a spammer robot would be able to collect an Email address written like bibubop@advertise.com ?

He's got a contact formular captcha protected in the public area of his site, then he wonders if he could show the main Email address of the club for his members in the private area of the site without being spammed... and I could not give a sure answer.

Does someone have an opinion ?

My opinion is    no
If the content block the contact form is included in is correct hidden by the FEU it shouldn't be possible to read it.
Just try to open that page without login and look at page source - what is that the spam robot see...

Unless the robot has the login credentials and inputs them at the proper point it will see the exact same information that is presented to a user that has not logged in. A properly setup page with CustomContent and Front End Users will not present the email address to a robot.
If all else fails, use a bigger hammer.
