Smarty Errors on install

I've never had a problem installing CMS Made Simple before but when trying to install 0.13 beta 2, I got all these Smarty errors. Output is below or see http://www.seventhvision.com.au/cms/

I've tried deleting all the files, reuploading them (a few times) and continually I get these errors. I tried just then installing it under XAMPP on Windows XP Pro and it works fine so it's either my FTP client (filezilla) or something on the server has changed?

did you leave the Database host,, address, port, and name at the install default, such as local, etc. etc.
it sounds like it has no permissions to write to the database or wrong pointer/address,,

Hey Mark,

After wasting half an hour on the phone to the tech support person who maintains our servers, I found out that the smarty directive use_sub_dirs does not work if PHP is set to run in safe mode (as our server goes, grrrrrr). Bring on PHP 6 already!

I figured it out by readinig http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 08.15.html, which is probably what I should've done in the first place, I just presumed it must be my fault that it wasn't working.

Can you set a .htaccess file?

I just commmitted the safe_mode check before it sets this to true.

I'm getting a similar error after what appears to be a successful install of cmsmadesimple-0.13. I've installed other versions of CMS Made Simple including 0.12 Fiji.

I have similar problems after installing version 0.13 which I wanted to use for an additional homepage (I have version 0.11.2 running smoothly for quite a while).

The following error message appears:

By the way: PHP is not running in safe mode as fas as I can see.

Yeah, it seems a lot of people are having issues with the use_subdirs in smarty, both on unix and windows.  Even though it gives a slight performance increase, if it's going to cause so many issues, I'll probably just change it back in the next release.

To fix it, open up lib/content.functions.php.  Look for the line with:

$this->use_sub_dirs = true;

Change it to:

$this->use_sub_dirs = false;

That should solve the problem temporarily.

Sorry, here I am again.

Just after breakfast I wanted to start creating the new homepage.

The first thing I did was looking at the existing menu. But when trying to open it the following error message appears:

Have you checked that fileloc.php is there? if not upload it again.
