Check box groups - string values vs numerical values

Post by jgormont »

Hi All,

I am creating a Digital Data Order Form for my GIS office. Within the form are several check box groups listing the data layers which can be ordered. The problem I'm having is with the values of the check boxes. I need the email to list which layers the user orders, but my boss also wants the have a calculated field showing them the total price of the layers they've picked.

From what I've read, in order for the email to list the layers picked, the values of the check boxes need to reflect the layer name. But to calculate the total price, the values should be numerical. I can't figure out how to do both.

Is there anyway to generate a count of the checked check boxes and use that to calculate the price? Or does anyone have a different suggestion?

Thanks!
~Jess
