Thumbnails Image Manager NOT working

Hi,

to make a long story short: everytime my client uploads an image through the Image Manager, the file DOES get uploaded, but not a single thumbnail appears!  All I get are the blank "Thumbnail not available" icons. Very annoying.

I've put the umask to 000, refreshed the buffer, but nothing worked. Here's my system information.
